Full DJ missing, presumed clipping of front flap of DJ pasted to pastedown endpaper. Brown cloth boards with gilt lettering and red, black and gilt decoration. Edges lightly bumped. Corners rubbed. Spine heavily faded. Head and tail of spine rubbed from shelfwear. Spine roll. Soiling to edges of textblock. Hinge cracked at front and rear endpapers, boards slightly separated from textblock due to cracking. Prev. owner inscription on ffep. Ex-library edition with usual marks. Rear pastedown endpaper slightly torn from possible removal of a cardpocket. Edge-tanning and heavy foxing to pages throughout. Light evidence of dampstain on several pages at hinges throughout. Pages are unmarked. Some “old book smell” to pages. Beautiful color gate-fold maps and sepia-toned plates of photographs throughout add to the richness of this travelogue by war correspondent and adventure writer E. Alexander Powell. History
