About This Item

Holt, Rinehart, Winston, 1982. Soft cover. As New/No Jacket Issued. B&W Florentine Codex repros; B&W charts. CONDITION: UNREAD, but not perfect, 1982 Holt, Rinehart, Winston trade paperback, first edition, 7th printing. Problem: very light edge wear to cover - I have done a bit of cosmetics to make it look better. Interior clean and tight. B&W Florentine Codex repros and B&W maps and charts. CONTENT: Berdan's book covers the compelling story of a complex, imperial society in Central Mexico during the 15th and 16th centuries. It uses pre- and post-Spanish conquest documents and illustrations, as well as archaeological discoveries, to reconstruct the variety and "feel" of Aztec daily life at various status levels. The strength of Berdan's case study has always been its ethnographic perspective. Frances Berdan received her B.A. degree in geography at Michigan State University in 1965 and her Ph.D. degree in anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin in 1975. She has a long career in both ethnographic and archaeological field research.
