About This Item

Light edgewear, lower corners slightly bumped, a small half dime-sized soil spot to FFEP. A slight bend and faint crease to lower corner of rear board. Light wear to DJ. This book "grew out of the Elihu Root Lectures delivered by the author before the Council of Foreign Relations in 1966," (rear flap), and dicusses the "perennial conflict between the men who make the news and the men who report it." It attempts to define and illustrate the problems of conducting American foreign policy at the end of the 20th century with a press and Constitution that were formed at the end of the 18th century. James "Scotty" Reston was an American journalist from the early 1930's into the 1990's.
