About This Item
Hong Kong: Hong Kong Heritage Museum, 2000. Catalogue of the inaugural exhibition of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, focussed on the art and craft of woodblock printing. The catalogue begins with a detailed, illustrated description of the production process, from the cutting of the printing blocks, the inking of the blocks-often in multiple colours-to the creation of the prints themselves. The exhibition consisted of over 100 printed objects dating from the late 19th to the mid 20th century, all colour illustrated, and often shown beside the original woodblocks from which they were printed. Exhibition objects include protective charms and amulets, auspicious hangings for the New Year, legal & official documents, paper currency, decorative paper, Buddhist and map printings. Includes two separate large prints of military door gods, suitable for actual use or framing. PB, 19x28 cm., 90 pp., one fold-out, and two separate prints laid loosely in behind the front and back covers.. First. Softbound. New/n/a. 19 x 28 cm..
