ART/LIFE began in 1981 as a "conceptual exchange" between a global community of artists [and poets]. Unique in its approach, ART/LIFE sources each page directly from the artist with little restriction on subject or medium. Submitted content represents a variety of international contributors and ranges from silkscreened, stamped and photocopied prints to original drawings and collages, pressed foliage, photographs, a Sweet-n-Low packet, and things much stranger. Creator and publisher Joe Cardella curated, assembled and distributed limited editions of 100 to 200 copies every month for 25 years. The result is a varied visual transcript of the dialogue between artists in the 1980s and 1990s." - elmo academy art. Each issue is comprised entirely of original poetry and fine art, hand signed by each contributing artist. Cardella himself contributed several pieces for each issue. Some are numbered, although the numbers do not necessarily correspond to the number of the issue as a whole, written on each title page. Each volume a unique, quirky work of art in its own right. The issues in this lot are as follows: Volume 3: Nos. 4, 5, 7, 8, 9; Volume 5: Nos. 2 through 10; Volume 6: Nos. 5, 7, 10; Volume 7 (Complete): Nos. 1 through 11; Volume 8: Nos. 1 through 3.
