About This Item
Edinburgh: David Douglas, 1887 Bound in 1/4 leather over boards, xii, 186, 1 leaf ads. This copy with the bookplate of Col R Otto Probst plus ephemera. Prost's collection of 800 books and 1400 periodicals was donated to the USGA Museum in 1986. The copy at hand belonged to a good friend of Mr Probst and from whose estate this was purchased. Included with the book is a Christmas card from the Probst family and mailed in 1968 at which time the card enclosed was already "over 50 Years old". Also laid in is an old unused score card and index card, "January 10, 1965/Another Anniversary for/my friend Bob. One/of the Best" and signed R Otto Probst. As fro the book itself, there is a large piece of tape holding the spine label and both front and back hinges have been reinforced. Covers show wear at the extremities and some of the spine leather is flaked. Still an attractive book with great provenance.
