Issued in The Ancient Commentators on Aristotle series ed. Richard Sorabi. Philoponus (490-570) was an eminent 6th century philosopher, narural historian and philosopher who took issue with Aristotle on numerous issues (see on-line Stanford Encyclopedia entry).
