Alexander Wilson often considered the 'Father of Ornithology,' was a Scottish-born naturalist and regarded one of the greatest ornithologists to ever live, just behind Audubon.
A lover of travel, Wilson voyaged to the Americas where he discovered many species of birds which he described in detail in his work "American Ornithology." In total, 268 species of birds were described with many never having been described before.
This large 1871 edition includes three volumes in one.
