A very smart copy of this important work detailing Leslie Buswell's time working in the American Field Ambulance Service during WWI. The first edition of this work.In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with brown paper boards.Monochrome portrait frontispiece, in-text illustrations throughout and sixteen plates of photographs. Collated complete. A folding advertisement to the rear. After failing his military medical, Leslie Buswell was determined to play his part in the 'Great War' and therefore served in the American Field Ambulance Service in France.These letters, written to home in the USA, detail his experiences of driving Car no. 10, and the often difficult scenes he bore witness to. In the original quarter cloth binding and brown paper boards. Externally, very smart with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Slight loss to the spine label. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Owner's contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper. Very Good Indeed
