First published edition, and first edition under this title (previously privately published twice with the title, With the American Ambulance Field Service in France, in 1915); 8vo, pp. xxii, [2], 155, [1]; folding solicitation for ambulance drivers at the back, photographic frontispiece of the author, facsimile letter, 16 plates showing 22 illustrations from photographs, and drawings in the text; a very good copy in a chipped dust jacket (no loss of letterpress) bearing a 12-line quote from Teddy Roossevelt about the ambulance service on the front panel, and a 6-line endorsement for the book on the back panel by Owen Wister. The preface is by Harry Davis Sleeper, and the Introduction by A. Piatt Andrew. Common book in an uncommon jacket.
