Boston: Printed and sold by Draper & Folsom, and J. Mycall, of Newbury-Por, 1778. [24]pp. 12mo. Contemporary and near contemporary stitching. Contemporary inscriptions on titlepage and p.[24]. Titlepage age-toned, soiled, and worn at edges with some loss, old tissue repair at bottom outer corner. A good copy. A Revolutionary-era Massachusetts almanac compiled by Daniel George, a former student of astronomy at Haverhill who issued New England almanacs in various Massachusetts towns between 1776 and 1787. The present almanac is one of two editions published for the year 1779, the other with identical content published in Newburyport by John Mycall. In addition to the calendar for the year, the almanac includes "a variety of matter, useful and entertaining" such as "the grand pilgrimage to Mecca," a fable on "the danger of exorbitant taxes," and receipts for the jaundice and the dropsy.
