About This Item
Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1926. 1st ed. . Orange Cloth. G-VG/No Jacket. 13 Cm X 19.5 Cm. Carroll C.Snell. f/piece with orange border+unpag.prelims+171, one further full page ill. plate plus 5 text ills in Appendix plus headpieces; short sig. top frotn endpaper, fair-to-moderate tanning to outer sides of endpapers, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked, covers with printed title and two cello motifs on front are generally clean, suggestion of slight fading to edges, spine a tad faded, a few trivial small marks. Might be considered an Alice in Wonderland spin-off, imagining Alice meeting the various instruments in the orchestra, the Appendix has diagrom of orchestra lay-out and more detailed descriptions of the various classes of instruments. It is possible that this book was associated with a series of 'Concerts for Children and Young People' given by the New York Symphony Orchestra (of which the author was actually a member), conducted by Walter Damrosch, programs of these closing the book from p.166. Scrace in UK, though commoner in U.S. Note: quoted shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight, cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range.
