About This Item
A late 19th century cloth covered album containing over 100 albumen, bromide and other photographs of mostly Cuba and some of Mexico. Includes architecture, ruins, landscapes, and images of the local population in various cities. A nice selection of images by local photographers producing pictures for the tourist trade. Some fascinating character studies of tradesmen and locals in Cuba and Mexico. A number of images relating to the Spanish American War. Album measures 10 1/2" x 13" x 1 1/4", 25 board pages with prints on both sides. Image sizes range from 3 3/4" x 4 1/2" to 6 3/4" x 9". 'Photographs' gilt impressed on cover. The images are mostly in fine condition, the album pages somewhat discolored but the prints have survived in generally good shape.
