London: J S Virtue and Co, 1898. Leather. Good Only. 7.5" by 5.5". None. A fascinating and passionately patriotic British colonialist narrative. Featuring a portrait frontispiece of General Gordon and several futher plates. With ink stamp of Bickers and Son, Leicester Square to verso of front free-endpaper. In an armorial full tree-calf binding. Externally, very attractive despite some shelfwear. The front board is detached, held by an amateur sellotape repair. The rear board is held by one cord only. Part of the backstrip has come away and is preserved within. Internally, firmly bound, bright and very clean throughout. Ink inscription dated 1905 to verso of front free-endpaper. Overall: GOOD ONLY with a near fine interior. Good Only
