The first English edition of this incredibly eminent work of mountaineering from the first recorded European to ascend the summit of Kilimanjaro. A lovely bright copy, with all maps present. Translated from the German of Dr. Hans Meyer.With three fold-out maps.With twenty plates. Lacks chromolithograph frontispiece.Hans Heinrich Josef Meyer, 1858 - 1929, was a German geographer from Hildburghausen. Hans Meyer is credited with being the first European to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in 1889. In a half cloth binding. Externally, just a little bumping, with slight loss to the spine label. There is a gilt reference number to the tail of the spine, with a small reference, and the remains of a label. Internally, firmly bound, bright, with occasional spots or marks. With a small blindstamp to the title page. Very Good Indeed
