Publisher's original bright orange cloth boards, with silver titling to the the spine and debossed titling to the front panel, with dustjacket featuring detailing of Jackson Pollock's 'Blue Poles 1952'. Illustrated throughout in full colour. A fine copy, the binding tight and square, the contents clean and free from inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the fine original dustwrapper that remains without fading, loss or tears. Published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Abstract Expressionism' at the Royal Academy of Arts London and Guggenheim Museum Berlin in 2017. The first exhibition in the UK to show an overview of the movement since 1959. Featuring leading painters of the movement, whilst also exploring the fields of sculpture and photography. Contains essays by David Anfam, Jeremy Lewison, Carter Ratcliff and Susan Davidson with a chronology by Edith Devaney with Christian Wurst. 'Using fascinating archive photographs and a comprehensive chronology of the era, the authors explore the roots of the movement in the Great Depression, it's reception around the world, the ground-breaking role played by the art dealers Peggy Guggenheim and Betty Parsons, and the complex and often tumultuous relationships between the protagonists' (front dustwrapper flap).
