London: Collins, 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. Red Boards with Black Lettering on Spine. Original, Good Condition/Protective Covered. A consideration and analysis of the short story as a specialised form of the fiction writer's craft from one of the ablest practitioners of the art of the short story.
Seán Proinsias O'Faoláin (1900 - 1991) was one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Irish culture. A short-story writer of international repute, he was also a leading commentator and critic. He wrote his first stories in the 1920s, eventually completing 90 stories over a period of 60 years. His Collected Stories were published in 1983. O'Faoláin was a controversial figure in his own lifetime and two of his books were banned for "indecency" in Ireland - his debut collection of short stories and his second novel, Bird Alone (1936).
320pp. DJ clipped and a piece missing from top but now in protective cover, name on fep otherwise clean throughout.
