The Enormous Radio

John Cheever's second collection of fourteen stories, after his youthful The Way Some People Live, which he later came to revile. Published in the New Yorker magazine, Cheever achieved a kind of surrealistic breakthrough and his first fame with The Enormous Radio, about a device which transmits the thoughts of people living in an apartment building.
