Each volume's title page, and volume 1's half title page have been stamped with an oval stamp. These stamps show signs of having been attempted to be erased. It is my belief, when coupled with the new paste downs and end papers, that this set was formerly an ex-library set, with an attempt to remove all library markings. Description:
This is a rare copy of this early young adult novel, equal parts exciting melodrama and sentimental moral instruction with Presbyterian overtones. Elsie Dinsmore attained an extraordinary prominence in the canon of girls' series books, with her adventures running to 28 books; an institution to be rebelled against by all the less pious dreamers and intrepid detectives of 20th-century children's literature who followed in her footsteps, such as Nancy Drew. 6.5'' x 4.5''. Green on boards with silver and dark green design. Some wear and spine loosening.. 342 pages. Some wrinkle and small spot stain.
