This second edition was printed by Elzevier. Pages are generally clean. A bibliographical note (listing several references) and an old ownership inscription - "ex bibliotheca Kripperdorfia" - are written in old hand on the front blank. The Monarchia solipsorum is bitter satire written against the Jesuits which, in its day, caused quite a sensation. The author describes a secret society of "Solipsen" (those who wish to govern entirely) understood to mean the Jesuits. The supposed laws, secret instructions and clandestine operations of the organization are discussed. The author's name is given as Lucius Cornelius Europaeus which is a pseudonym. Stated first edition in the RARE ORIGINAL DUST WRAPPER. Offsetting from old moisture damage, evidenced by a white residue mark running the width of the rear cover, approximately one inch from the top edge. The damage mirrors a stain on the wrapper's rear panel and spine. The stain, while noticeable, is less detracting than one might expect, not affecting the spine of the book itself, that is otherwise fine and bright. There is other minor soiling and wear to the dust wrapper, but it is unfaded and complete, lettered in navy blue against a pale turquoise ground. Nostradamus, considered, perhaps, the most famous prophetical seer, has been credited with prophesying important and impactful world events such as the French Revolution, Great London Fire, and reigns of Napoleon and Hitler. He was heavily criticized by astrologers for being 'incompetent,' as no one could truly predict the future.

Book is very good plus.
Boards are sturdy and are stamped in red and black. There are 2 red smudges on front board and a tiny tear to cloth at bottom corner of front board (barely perceptible when book is closed). Otherwise boards are Fine. Binding is sound.
Fore and bottom edges are untrimmed. Leaves are lightly age toned. Light age related brown spots to very early leaves and end papers. Otherwise, the leaves are remarkably clean.
