John Murray. London.,1815. FIRST EDITION. 8vo.(8.5 x 5.6 inches). Lovely clean, wide margined copy in contemporary full red straight grained morocco. Elaborate gilt decoration to spine and corners of boards, within a triple ruled border. Centre ruled panel in gilt. Gilt inner dentelles. Blue coated endpapers. All edges gilt. Spine a bit darkened and rubbed. Boards with areas of darkening to top(where the book has sat on a shelf betwen shorter books). Overall a very good copy in a very good, highly attractive early binding. Herbert's great Scandinavian poem appears to have only been printed twice in his life-time, This first edition and a second printing of 1816.:

A fine and clean copy bound in highly attractive contemporary binding of full blue calf by Riviere and Son. Boards with double ruled gilt borders. Raised bands on spine, each with gilt piping. Compartments fully decorated and lettered in gilt. Red and green labels, gilt. Gilt decoration to board edges and inner dentelles. Blue marbled endpapers. Previous owners bookplate on front pastedown. All edges gilt. A fine and attractive binding, housed in a blue cloth covered slipcase.

Nugent completed Vol I and then travelled to Mecklenburg to gather material for a second volume. Free access to ducal archives and opportunities to meet other scholars provided a wealth of material. Comprising Book III - reign of Pribislaus II to Albert I 1329; and Book IV - of the Dukes of Mecklenburg, from Albert I to Henry the Fat, 1329-1423. Complete with 2 full page engravings. Bound in an exceptional contemporary full leather binding with extensive gilt tooling and an intricate star design to boards. Raised bands to spine. The binding has some darkening to the spine, some tenderness at the top of the joint with the front board, and some wear to corners and edges. Marbled endpapers. Aeg. Contents in very good condition - occasional light spotting and some offsetting from the engravings to the text. A lovely volume.

Library stamp on title page, some notations on preface, occasional pencil notes in text. Title page is backed with rice paper. Some edges chipped not affecting text. Last page is high quality facsimile. Paginates: [12], 420. Modern blanks. Extremely rare. OCLC locates 10 physical copies. Auction records do not find any sold at auction. T. Fisher Unwin Ltd. London. 1908. REVISED EDITION. 8vo (7.8 x 5.4 inches). Portrait frontis. Attractive plain early binding, by Bumpus of London, of full dark blue morocco. Spine with five raised bands, one compartment lettered in gilt. Decorative gilt roll on turn ins. Plain white endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owner's pretty illustrated circular bookplate on front pastedown endpaper and another name neatly written, with the date 1912 below, on the front free endpaper. A clean and bright copy in a fine early twentieth century leather binding.

(8.7 x 5.7 inches) .xiv,756pp. Neat previous owner name and date on front blank free endpaper, otherwise a fine clean copy throughout. Finely bound in full tan calf by Bayntun of Bath. Raised bands with gilt wavy lines on the spine. The compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Red and green Morocco labels, double ruled and lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. Faint mark to the front board and a crack to the inner front endpaper, but the board is firm and tight and there is no cracking to the leather. Overall a near fine copy of this classic work.

A particularly attractive copy of this beautiful edition - one of a very small number reserved exclusively for contributors and lettered. 75 numbered copies were made available for sale to subscribers. Full leather gilt with the New Naturalist monogram to the upper cover, two raised bands and gilt titles at the spine. pp. x, 484, illustrated with colour photographs and diagrams. Tipped-in limitation plate to the front endpaper which is signed by the author and, in addition, the traditional New Naturalist dustjacket is provided and has been signed directly by its artist and designer, Robert Gillmor. A fine copy of this beautiful book, the first detailed study of the remote regions of Oman from Musandam in the north, to the Hajar Mountains, Dhofar and the Empty Quarter, via the coastline that extends some 1,000 miles. --- Only 3 copies listed on Worldcat, in Oman, UAE, and Lebanon.

Originally published in 1875, this printing adds the new rules of Golf, as adopted by the Royal and Ancient and also updates the R. & A. medal list. Small 4to. (8.5 x 6.4 inches). Illustrated with six plates and sixteen wood engravings by various artists including Hugh Thomson, James Drummond and Birket Foster. Decorative head and tail pieces & initial letters by Clark Stanton and C. A. Doyle. A few pages affected by foxing but mostly a very bright clean copy finely bound in recent full dark green morocco, spine with five raised bands, compartments decorated with club and players devices and lettered in gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt. Overall a very good copy in an attractive leather binding.

Printed for Francis Coggan. London. 1706. Fourth year, of a total of 11 published, but complete in itself. 8vo. (7.8 x 5.1 inches). iv, 288pp, 72pp Appendix, 10pp Index. Two fold out plates, one the order of the battle of the confederate armies, 18th July 1705, the second a plan of the town and castle of Nice. A very good copy in a recent binding of half dark brown calf. Spine with raised bands, the compartments ruled and lettered in gilt, marbled paper on boards. One split to the fold-out plan of Nice, without any los, but generally this is very good indeed.

Portrait frontis engravings showing Browning as a young man (dated 1835) opposite the title page of volume 1, and as an old man (1881) for volume 2. Finely bound in contemporary full burgundy calf bindings. Spines with raised bands, each with gilt ruling. Compartments with double ruled and decorated in gilt. Twin tan morocco labels, gilt. Boards with double ruled borders with floral decorations to the corners. Front boards both have circular gilt stamp of Saint Catherine's School, Bramley, Guildford, to the centre. Decorative blind floral borders to the inner boards. Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. School prize labels, dated 1900, to the front pastedown endpapers in each volume. Some minor foxing to the frontispieces and the tissue guards opposite them. Blank white prelim pages are more heavily foxed but the text pages are clean throughout. NP. 1951. Oblong 4to. (11.5 x 7.9 inches). Beautiful calligraphic manuscript in red and black. Six leaves written on both sides on hand made paper, plus four blank leaves, all sewn in with red cord. In a fine leather binding of full dark brown morocco with bevelled edges to the boards. Multiple blind ruled line borders and gilt ruled panel with floral corner pieces to the front board. A little rubbing and marking to the binding but still a very good attractive volume. ---- The carols included are; God rest you merry, gentlemen, Annunciation Carol, The Shepherd's cradle song, King Jesus hath a garden, Nowell!
