This book is in good condition. The cover has some light wear and the corners are definitely worn. The previous owner's name is written on the inside of the front cover and his seal is affixed to the front cover. The pages are clear of any markings crisp and white. Edward Leigh was a 17th-century English author who is known for his books of commentary on theology, philology, and English history. However, his most important and widely recognized as best work was his first 'Critica Sacra', a collection of observations on the Greek texts used in the New Testament.

Saint Jerome was a 4th-century, early church father. While he was most known for his translation of the Bible, he also wrote a collection of letters which are now known his 'Epistles.' These letters were written on a variety of topics, but most of them were written as warnings against sin and detestable devices such as sexual immorality within the clergy, clothing advised for virgins, gluttony and fasting, and laboring over Biblical texts. These letters were written to and from important men and women of the church such as Augustine, Theophilus, Heliodorus, and the Popes.
This 16th-century edition was collected and edited by Mariano Vittori and published by the famed Plantin Press. This particular 1578 tome contains the Epistles as well as Jerome's commentary on numerous books of the Bible.

1550 Claude Guilliaud BIBLE Commentary Gospel of John FOLIO French Huguenot era

Claude Guilliaud was a 16th-century French theologian known for his Bible commentaries and sermons preached against heresy. His works were not seen as favorable by the Catholic Church and many of his works were placed on the Prohibited Books Index until he agreed to revise them (Farge). The first work to avoid being banned was his 'Ennarationes in Evangelium Johanni' – an annotated edition of the Gospel of John with commentary.

An incredibly rare 17th-century John Field Greek version of the Psalms of David and Book of Common Prayer

The Cambridge Holy Bible, printed completely in Greek, was "sometimes known as the 'Preaching Bible'." (Herbert 697). John Field printed Greek Bibles are extremely rare and popular amongst Greek scholars and still used by 21st-century preachers.

This John Field Bible is 'Variation A' of his Greek Bible. According to D&M,
