1866 Gen Randolph Marcy Thirty Years in US Army INDIANS American West Mormons
Randolph Marcy was a 19th-century United States Army officer known for his military guide for American soldiers, 'The Prairie Traveler'. In addition to this guidebook, Marcy wrote a memoir of his life which outlined his adventures in the military as well as his explorations in the American west. "Thirty Years of Army Life on the Border" describes buffalo and antelope hunting trips, influence of Mormonism on the American west, and Native American tribes – Pueblo, Comanche, Ute, etc.
This 1866 edition of Marcy's memoir includes full-page engravings throughout – views of Indians and teepees, city views, and hunting adventures.

Throughout the 19th-century, numerous improvements to printing and the printing process were utilized in print houses. Though, perhaps no greater changes were made during this time period than the changes made to color illustrations. Chromolithograph engravings allowed for illustrations to be printed rather than rely on hand-painted color.
