Description:
Statesboro, GA: The Boxwood Press, ( 1992). First, Limited edition. Hardcover. Fine. Oversized: will require extra shipping and insurance. Only 16cc.Remarkable bilingual presentation / re-interpretation of this Biblical work placing it in the the Reagan / Bush era. Illustrated with 16 color etchings by Bernard Solomon, the translator and etcher. He realized there were remarkable parallels between the Biblical story of Esther, and that of Anita Hill, Clarence Thomas, and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. This interpretation unfolds sequentially as each leaf is unrolled from the 33 in. high scroll holder. The body of the scroll holder is one of the original copper plates used for the etchings, which is why it is limited to an edition of only 16 (of which this is 14).. The top and bottom of the handcrafted minaret-style case is finely shaped and polished mahogany, by Anthony V. Mann. Designed with a hidden crank to rewind the scroll into the case. Altogether remarkable!
