Dublin William Curry, 1830, hardcover. Published Dublin 1830. -- 137 pages, plus 4 pages publishers ads. Hardcover, original green cloth. Condition: fair (front label soil; spine label unreadable; ink-stamp number at bottom of preliminary page; sewn binding cracked in center; pages quite eright). -- SCARCE. William Hickey was a Protestant curate who wrote under this pseudonym, mostly advice on farming, but also on the poor state of the Irish populace and landlord relations [A.Brady].

Osijek Galerija Likovnih Umjetnosti, 1993, hardcover. There are 183 numbered color reproductions, plus photographs and other visuals. Text in CROATIAN, with summary in English and in French. 219 pages, 9.5x13 inches. -- Hardcover. Condition: near fine (corners lightly bumped) with near fine dust jacket. -- Ivan Rein studied with prominent Croatian painters at Zagreb and then Paris. His art evolved through the classical European forms and his Croatian training, to a more personal style in Paris 1930s, "Rein was a painter of intimacy." These more "mature" paintings also reflected his disturbance at the Spanish Civil War and encroaching fascism from Germany. His art and life ended when he became active with the Yugoslav resistance in World War II.

Condition: very good (light wear to spine bands, corners). -- Nice copy of this phenomenally prolific Chile scholar, publisher, bibliographer.

Lisboa Imprensa Nacional, 1910, hardcover. SIGNED, inscribed on title page by author Rocadas, who was Portuguese Minister of War. This book is unofficial daily chronicle of the army campaign against the Cuamatos tribal peoples, Angola, 1907. -- Half the pages have photographs, including local combatants, weapons, cattle, huts, enclosures, etc. Annexos include weather charts, wound and disease types, provisions, medicines, names lists. There are 17 large fold-out maps/plans, some in two parts, and 5 additional fold-out charts. -- Text in PORTUGUESE. Hardcover, half leather over printed boards, printed on poor, fragile paper. Condition: good (paper as noted; extruding parts of the fold-outs are creased; edgewear to cover edges and spine). Pages are clean and binding tight.

New York John B. Alden, 1889, hardcover. Copyright 1878, reprinted 1889. Illustrated with engravings, including several "field preaching." 437 pages. -- Hardcover, black cloth with bright gilt spine lettering. Condition: very good: nice clean copy, with small bump to fore-edge; corners and tips with very slight wear. -- George Whitefield was profiled in the PBS "God in America" series. His method of outdoor preaching to crowds, in an emotional and revival style, without organized religious group or book learning or ministers, started the "Great Awakening" of the 1730s and 1740s.

Errata sheet tipped in. -- Hardcover, 10.5x13 inches. Condition: near fine (spine cloth foxed, else really nice) with bright, very good minus dust jacket (edgeworn).

First Edition 1927 as "newly translated from the Latin of the Elzevir edition of 1633" by Edward Seymour Forster. -- Includes 3 plates (one is title-page of the Elzevir edition) and one folding map (illustrating Busbecq's travels). -- Hardcover, ownership is pencil dated 1927. Condition: very good minus (cloth over thin boards is bumped at corners, some wear spine crown; spine slanted). -- Pages are bright and clean, overall a nice copy of this SCARCE and significant book.
