Apud Aldum, Venice, 1498. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. 346 unnumbered leaves, first two leaves supplied in facsimile. Small bookplate attached to front paste-down. Some worm tracks throughout. First original page repaired at lower right corner. Text in Aldus large Greek type 146, 41 lines of scholia surrounding in smaller (type114), Aldus preface in Roman. A very good copy. Comprising the first nine plays of Aristophanes. Housed in a custom-made slipcase.

Chapman & Hall, London, 1843. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. First editions of all five Christmas books in extraordinary condition, featuring a near fine and unrestored copy of the true first issue of The Christmas Carol, with "Stave I" on p. [1] and with the text entirely uncorrected. With all known first issue points: title page in blue and red, dated 1843, chalky green endpapers, 14-15mm between the gilt wreath and the left margin blind-stamping on the front cover, a perfect "D" in "Dickens" in the front cover wreath. According to the most recent exhaustive study (Todd's, analyzing the front cover), this copy is of the earliest state of the first issue. Near fine condition, and rare as such. Other books also in near fine or fine condition. Cricket has second state of ad leaf in rear, and Battle of Life has the 4th state of the title page. Housed in a custom-made collector's case.

Simmons, 1669. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. This one of the original 1,200 first edition copies printed in 1667 by the publisher Simmons. Simmons issued the first edition over a few years, adding a different title page from time to time. By the time the 1200 copies of the first run had sold out, seven different variations of the title page has been produced, bearing dates of 1667, 1668 and 1669. There is no known relationship between when a given copy of the TEXT itself was printed, and the title page it bears. Thus, the first printed copy of the 1200 copies could just as easily have a 1669 title page as one dated 1667 or 1668. It was just a matter of what copy the publisher pulled out of the original pile, and attached a title page. In addition, the bibliographer Hugh Amory argued convincingly that the 1668 title page was probably issued earlier than the one bearing the date 1667. Scribner's, 1940. first, galley proofs. very good. Pre-publication galley proofs, first printing, the earliest state, the text terminating at galley page 141, concluding with a line of dashes between two Os to signify the end of the novel. Printed on rectos only, on two different paper stocks. A little chipping and minor soiling, overall very good. Housed in a custom-made fold-out slipcase.

Very good condition with a chip at the ipper left corner of the front panel of the dj. From a total edition of 1000 copies, this is one of the last 750 on handmade paper. Some pages uncut at top.

Riga: ohann Friedrich Hartknoch, 1781. First edition. hardcover. Very good. A very good first edition of Kant's masterpiece, rebound in matching leather and hand-decorated paper clamshell case. First edition of Kant's greatest work, the Critique of Pure Reason, widely considered the most influential book in philosophy since Aristotle. Warda 59; Adickes 46; Printing and the Mind of Man 226.

London: Egerton, 1814. First. hardcover. Very good.. Three volumes, 12 mo. A very good first edition in three volumes of Austen's third published novel. Handsome leather binding, not original boards. Written between 1811 and 1813, Mansfield Park was the first of her works conceived and wholly written at Chawton. Published in May 1814 in an edition of around 1250 copies, the first edition was quickly sold out in a matter of months. The sale of the book was on a commission basis, with Austen retaining the copyright. A first edition set in original boards sold at Christie's in September, 2021, for $275,000.

With 1868 on title page of first part and price of $1.25 for Little Women in the ads in the back of the book. Part Two-1869 on title page, first issue state of Part Two-on p. IV no notice for Little Women, Part One. Both volumes very good. Possibly recased. Penciled name on 2nd free end paper in Part Two. Housed in a custom-made collector's clamshell case.
