King, Queen, Knave

by Nabokov, Vladimir

Originally written in 1928, it was translated from Russian to English by Nabokov's son in 1968.

The novel is the story of well-to-do Dreyer, who has a lovely but terriby cold wife, named Martha.  Bored, manipulative Martha plots to make a lover of Dreyer's nephew, Franz, when he comes to work for Dreyer in Berlin.
