Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1899. Book. Very Good+. Hardcover. First Edition, First Printing.. First Edition (1899). Decorated American trade binding (signed binding - monogram "S" on cover design). Red cloth boards with gold lettering, small gold, brown, red and green decoration on cover (a traveling bag with a cane and a book). Black line border. Small faint spot of soiling on cover - smaller than a dime. Gold lettering and question mark on spine. Pages and edges are clean with gilt top page edges. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Clean endpapers - no names, writing or marks. Frontispiece illustration by F. C. Yohn with clean tissue guard;seven additional black & white plates by various artists. 218 pages..
