How do I purge and replace my inventory using BiblioDirector?

Return to what I was doing

Uploading a purge and replace is very easy with BiblioDirector.

Open your BiblioDirector program and click on the "Uploads" tab.  Click on "Upload Everything to Biblio".  After a moment, a small dialog box will open that says, "Ready to send X items to Bibio".  Click "Ok".

Next, you'll be asked if you want this to trigger a purge and replace.  Click "Yes", and a complete inventory file will then be created and sent to Biblio.  This may take a minute or two, depending on the size of your inventory.

You can use the option to "Upload Everything to Biblio" as often as you like, without purging.   We do recommend that booksellers purge and replace their inventory on a regular basis, about every three months or so, to help ensure that everything stays up to date.

Purging does not affect any uploaded photos, catalogs, items assigned to Rare Book Rooms, Featured Books, etc.   It simply makes all your listings temporarily inactive, and then re-activates all the ones still for sale, based on the data in your BiblioDirector.   Photos will be re-assigned to their listings, and items in a Rare Book Room or assigned to a specific catalog will stay where they are.

If you use our free upload routing service, then your complete inventory file will be forwarded on to the sites you have set up, via FTP.  It will not necessarily trigger a purge and replace at the destination site, although it will have the word 'purge' in the file name.  On some sites, including Biblio, having 'purge' as part of the file name is enough to trigger a purge and replace.  Please check the requirements for purging at your destination sites if you want to purge and replace there.

Please drop us an email at with any questions.

I was delighted with my order and your service. The book arrived in time for the occasion that I needed it for. I was thrilled to be able to find an out-of-print copy.
