What is FTP?

"FTP" simply stands for "File Transfer Protocol" and is a method of uploading which supports very large files.  You can always upload inventory files and book image files to Biblio via FTP, regardless of the file size.  For details specific to uploading book photos via FTP, click here.

All sellers are automatically set up with an FTP account at Biblio, even if they do not use it.  To view or change your Biblio FTP login information, use the Upload Settings link in your BiblioDirect bookseller menu.

To upload via FTP, you will need to have an FTP "client" (program) on your computer.  There's more than one FTP client, and many of them are available to download and use for free.  One FTP program we recommend is called Cyberduck, and you can download it from this website:

If your inventory or image file/folder is 50 MB or larger, then it will need to be uploaded via FTP,  rather than through the tools in your BiblioDirect menu.  The vast majority of uploads we receive are much smaller than 50 MB, so don't be too concerned that your complete inventory file can't be uploaded through your bookseller menu.
