An idealistic young woman, Barbara Undershaft, serves as a Major in the Salvation Army, bringing aid to the destitute and poor. Her estranged father reappears in her life, causing complications when he wants to make donations to her cause.

Originally written and premiered in 1905, this script belonged to a member of the cast or crew involved in the 1956 Broadway revival, which ran for 231 performances from October 30, 1956 until May 18, 1957.

Set in London.

Red titled wrappers. Title page present, with credits for playwright George Bernard Shaw. 108 leaves, with last page of text numbered 22. Mimeograph duplication. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus bound with two silver brads.

Synopsis

In this sparkling comedy, originally staged in 1905, Andrew Undershaft, a millionaire armaments dealer, loves money and despises poverty. His energetic daughter Barbara, however, is a devout major in the Salvation Army. She sees her father as just another soul to be saved. But when the Salvation Army needs funds to keep going, it is Undershaft who saves the day.
