About This Item

New York: Alexander Cohen, 1963. Draft script for the 1963 play. Notations throughout in manuscript pencil and ink, pertaining to scenes involving characters named Sven and Gregor. With two pages laid in, one a telegraph from France to Dr. F.J. Belinfante at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana, the other is a list of typed film titles.

First performed in London at the Queen's Theatre and at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York in 1963, where it was poorly received. A revival was put on four decades later, at the Duchess Theatre in London in 2005, this time to critical acclaim. A sociopathic business who can not love and does not see the impact on his family, notably, his son and wife. Based on the lives of Ivar Kreuger, the Swedish Match King and Samuel Insull, a British-born American investor.

Set in Greenwich Village, New York City.

Gray blank wrappers with die cut title window in the British style. Title page present, dated October 1963, with credits for playwright Terence Rattigan. 109 leaves, with last Near Fine wrapper Very Good plus bound internally with two silver brads.
