The famed Iowa Hawkeyes football team was coached by noted former player Eddie Anderson from 1939-42 and again from 1946-49, and in 1942 defeated the previously unbeaten Wisconsin Badgers 6-0. Group of 13 signatures on an 8" X 6" sheet, n.p., n.y. Very good. Faintly age toned, with two faint vertical creases. Two columns of signatures grace this single sheet, nine at left and four at right, all but one (bottom signature in right column) in ink. Left column, top to bottom: FRANK CARIDEO (1908-93, quarterback of Knute Rockne's famed Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team 1928-30, Hawkeyes assistant coach 1939-42, elected to College Football Hall of Fame), TOM FARMER (1921-80, halfback who went on to play for L.A. Rams 1946 and Washington Redskins 1947-48), DUKE CURRAN (halfback), BILL PARKER (1920-2015, end), JOHN STAAK (1922-70, tackle), BILL BURKETT (caught touchdown pass that got Hawkeyes only points against Badgers), BOB FENALUNA (tackle), BOB YELTON (tackle) and JERRY KUBAL (tackle). Undated, but surely circa 1942. Right column, top to bottom: GENE CURRAN (guard), BILL BARBOUR (end), JIM YOUEL (1922-90, quarterback who went on to play for Washington Redskins 1946-48 and Boston Yanks 1948) and (in bold pencil) FORREST MASTERSON (1922-2007, center and guard who went on to play for Chicago Bears 1945). An attractive and unique assemblage.
