About This Item

New York: Knopf, 1990. Book. Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 9 1/4 h x 6 1/4w. A real nice clean unmarked 401 page first edition (stated) hardcover. Has black & white photos scattered throughout. A portrait of one of the Victorian Age's most renowned English explorers and one-time Confederate soldier, remembered for locating David Livingstone, charting the Congo river, and campaigning against the slave trade. Bierman focuses on that portion of Stanley's life between 1841 and 1877--the "dark safari" of his title. Both books will be greeted with enthusiasm by students of exploration, British imperialism and African history..

About Warren's Books

I have been selling books since 1976. I am not a mega-lister that just types in an ISBN and paste a message of how great I am or how many books we\I sell. I list each book carefully trying to tell the faults and positives of our book. Most of the time I will tell what the book is about and list if it a first edition, hardcover or has a dust jacket. Photos of books are usually my scan and not a stock photo. If you have any questions, please ask. If you decide to pay with check or money order, please make it out to Warren Hahn, That's me!! I have about 5,200 books online with another 200 to list.
