Vol 1 has 479 pages and Vol 2 has 501 pages. Both volumes are Very Good+, no jackets - as issued. Blue cloth boards with gilt titles and accents - corners sharp. No previous owner marks - all pages are bright, clean and crisp. Only flaw is a touch of foxing to the top edge of the textblock (if not for that, this set would present as Like New). Small (7 3/8" x 6" x 2 1/2") but heavy set printed on heavyweight photo-stock paper and richly bound and decorated. Vol 1 has 13 chapters, 17 full page illustrations and 93 additional illustrations. Vol 2 has 13 chapters, 31 full page illustrations and 160 additional illustrations. Really captures the elegance of Yachting in the 19th century. All other pages are clean and unmarked with toning to the edges from using wartime paper. James Beardsley Hendryx, (December 9, 1880 - March 1, 1963) was an American author. He was a prolific writer finishing over 40 novels and several short stories. He also wrote one screenplay. All of his work was in the western fiction genre. He set most of his books in Canada, Alaska, or Montana. His novels portrayed Canada as a lawful and orderly place with reliable police and civilized court system. He compared this unfavorably to Alaska and Montana as relatively lawless places where criminals could find a safe haven. A very respectable copy in DJ. LOC SSS-04
