New York 1945, Grosset & Dunlap, Air Combat stories series # 14, later thin edition, w/dj, 5 1/4 x 7 1/4, VG/VG , only medium page browning, 209 pp. Captain Stan Wilson, and his hardf lying companions, March Allison and Bill O'Malley, had fought in every theatre of war. Everyone in the Army Air Forces had heard about their audacious exploits and savage air battles-their indomitable fighting spirit and spectacular flying skill. So it was only logical when special equipment had to be flown to the French underground a few hours before D-Day that these three veterans of the sky were detailed on the hazardous mission. A story of incredible gallantry and daredevil flying, A YANKEE FLIER IN NORMANDY is an exciting account of the vital roles this renowned three-man fighting team played in the invasion of Normandy.

New York 1944, Grosset & Dunlap, Air Combat stories series # 12, later thin edition, hard bound in dust jacket, 5 1/4 x 7 1/4, VG/VG , only very light page browning, 212 pp. The thrust into Italy was about to begin -and Stan Wilson, and his flying pals, March Allison and Bill O'Malley, wanted to be in on the big show. They picked the wrong moment, however, to get into trouble with Colonel Benson. By way of punishment, and much to their disgust, the tamest job in the air force was assigned to them - ferrying P-38's from Bizerte to Malta. But no assignment this crack fighting team was on could remain tame very long -and this one was no exception. Led off their course by a clever enemy trick, the three pilots ended up in Italy. The story of how they stole a Fiat bomber, were shot down by their own air force and captured by the Nazis, and how they finally got away to join the fight in the air over Italy is one of timely, hair-raising adventure.

YOU CAN'T DIE TOMORROW

Gribble, Leonard

Robert Hale, London, 1975. UK first edition, hard bound in dj, 5 x 7 1/2, VG/VG- condition ( 2 closed tears in rear dj), 184 pages. ---------------------------------When Commander Anthony Slade, chief of the Yard's Command Squad, received an anonymous late-night telephone call about a prisoner being released within a few hours, he decided he had to take immediate action. The prisoner had been involved in a bank raid in which a hundred and twenty thousand pounds in cash vanished. Later one of the raiders died in a road accident in which appearances were very deceptive. The mysterious caller failed to keep a secret rendezvous and this gave the latest recruit to the Command Squad, Detective Sergeant Mike Rennie, the chance to meet a young widow who knew more about a dangerous criminal set-up than was at first apparent, although murder seemed to dog her fast and elusive footsteps. ---------------------------------------In a quick-paced thriller in which violent action camouflages ... New York, 2005, Simon & Schuster, 2nd printing of US first edition, hard bound in dust jacket, 6x9, FINE/FINE CONDITION, 291 pages.,map. .........................................................Year of the Hyenas is a brilliant, original, and unique murder mystery, set in ancient Egypt at the height of that kingdom's glory and power. It is at once a strikingly insightful portrait of a mysterious, complex, and sophisticated society, reminiscent of Norman Mailer's Ancient Evenings in its wonderful detail and feel for the past, and a fast-paced detective story that reads like the best of twenty-first-century thrillers. From the oldest known court transcripts in history, Egyptologists have long known about the mysterious death of Ramses III, involving intrigue, ambition, greed, and crimes of passion on a huge, though hidden, scale. In Year of the Hyenas, Brad Geagley takes this event -- a struggle that nearly brought ancient Egypt to its knees -- as the backdrop for a story that is ... Read more
