Blue covers with silver lettering to spine, 224pp inc index. Book basically in VG condition with only light drinks stain, not really noticeable on page edges, but encroaches for 1cm on a few pages. Price-clipped DJ has a couple of light creases and 3cm closed (repaired) tears at lower spine and lower front fore corner, otherwise in good condition. A very decent copy overall. Ref:093350. London: Smith Elder, 1883. Late-Victorian walks in London with a great deal of historical insight. Complete two-volume revised and corrected fifth edition (first 1877), in black buckram with gilt titles and coat of arms on front board, with red rules, black endpapers and b/w illustrations. Vol 1: 531pp inc index, Vol 2: 557pp inc index, plus 2pp adverts. Both volumes in similar condition - hinges are starting to crack, as are jonts of Vol 1. Page edges yellowed and dusty with light foxing throughout. Both volumes have neat gift inscriptions on half-title (dated 16.12.1889). Modest wear to corners, more to head and foot of spine and head of spines have small losses, more to Vol 1. Otherwise the text blocks are clean and tight with a couple of relevant newspaper cutting slipped in. Overall a decent set. Heavy set will require extra postage. Ref:103823. Fifth Edition. Buckram. Presumably first edition (not dated with no publishing details) with frontispiece and four other further full-page b/w illustrations and pictorial head of each chapter. Primitive Methodist Sunday Scool presentation sticker, dated 1909, on pastedown. Further sticker removed from rear pastedown. Minor foxing, spine dulled, covers a little grubby with the odd small mark and minor wear to corners and modest bumping to head and foot of spine. But still a tight, attractive copy. Ref:07923.
