Slight split to the plastic sleeve of the front lower corner of Volume II and the rear lower corner of Volume III and the plastic sleeve of the tail of the spine of Volume IV. A well preserved set. . Flat signed by the author to the front endpaper with the date and inscription: 'To Morny, with love and every good wish'. Some moisture damage to the lower corner of the rear endpapers with notable tide-mark which affects the lower margins of a number of pages - not so heavily but with some wrinkling of the pages - no loss of text. Mositure damage too to both of the lower boards and to the overlying jacket - all with some tide marks. All 4 board corners bumped or a little bumped. A good only, signed reading copy. . Good.

Bumps to the head and tail of the spine with a little associated rubbing and a couple of short splits to the head of the spine. Slight nik to the cloth at the tail of the rear board and the two top corners are a little turned in. The half title page has splitting to the inner hinge for 4 cm from the head of the spine - but remains attached. There is also some splitting to the inner hinges between a few of the gatherings, revealing the cords which still hold the binding firmly together. The book is clean and tight. A very good copy. .
