Description:
Grainger's extraordinary work, described as "Music to an Imaginary Ballet", was prompted by a request from the English conductor Thomas Beecham to compose a ballet score for the Diaghilev company. The commission never materialized, but Grainger nevertheless proceeded to create a his most adventuresome work to date - employing a large orchestra with an expanded percussion section and three pianos, requiring three conductors for coordination. The world premiere for the now imaginary ballet took place in December 1919, with the composer on a piano plus the Chicago Symphony conducted by Frederick Stock. The new, digitally-enhanced study score offered here has been reproduced from the "compressed full score" issued in 1926 under the composer's name by B. Schott's Sohne, Mainz.

Description:
Sargeant's unique orchestration of Brahms' popular set of sixteen waltzes is a welcome addition to the symphonic repertoire. Brahms composed the original piano duet version in 1865 and arranged them for piano solo the same year. He later arranged five for 2 pianos which were published posthumously. Sargeant's orchestration, though employing a Brahms-size orchestra, is more contemporary in style but remains entirely performable by any reasonably practiced non-professional ensemble. This handy study score provides an easily read and inexpensive means of exploring some old wine in a contemporary bottle.

Description:
Composed in 1869 for the Vienna Men's Choral Association, Strauss' Opus 333 originally included parts for men's chorus. It has since become far more popular in the version he prepared afterward for orchestra only, which is the one presented here in a beautifully engraved new score edited by Clark McAlister. A welcome addition to the libraries of Johann Strauss aficionados, conducting students and music lovers everywhere, this convenient format study score is a reduced-sized reissue of the large score first issued in 2007 by the now defunct publisher Edwin F. Kalmus. The matching orchestra parts and large conductor score are also available from Serenissima Music.
