Black and white photos throughout the book. Text map. The day-by-day diary account describes a 407 mile canoe trip, over twenty days, beginning on July 21 and concluding on August 12, which originated at Norway House on the Nelson River, then to the Hayes River at the head of Lake Winnipeg, and concludes on the Hayes, south of Hudson’s Bay, in Northeastern Manitoba. There were four men on the trip : The author, J. Frank Delaute, Secretary to Canada’s Governor General; Anthony Lovink, Netherlands Ambassador to Canada; Eric W.
