The ancient Vedic religion was formed from the religious ideas and practices among some of the Indo-Aryan Peoples of Northwest India. Rele's book is a summation of his views that the Hindu scriptural texts are books of a biological nature and his research interprets the Vedic Gods from a biological stand point, particularly in relation to the central nervous system. Boards are tight and very clean, with just some few markings here and there but overall excellent. Bottom corners are slightly bumped. Rear end paper has very neat pencil notes of a previous reader summarising the book (see photo) - removable if desired. Spine is clean and tight. History professor Hartmann examines some of the most celebrated murderesses of the nineteenth century. She looks at thirteen French and English women accused of stabbing, shooting, beating and poisoning their victims. The book looks at the murderesses with the filter of women and their role in the social history of the times. Case studies include Madeleine Smith, Florence Maybrick, and Florence Bravo.
Book is in excellent condition. Pages are intact, unmarked and uncreased, clean and bright. Cloth covers are clean and tight. There is a single large 'D' in crayon (potentially removable) on the rear pastedown. The dust jacket is clean, unclipped but a biro mark through the original price. There is also half an original WH Smith sticker which had been stuck over the front flap and the pastedown, and a small stain on the dedication page. But altogether a really nice copy. All now protected in professional clear book wrapper. 318 pp with extensive notes, bibliography and index

Rare and well regarded in its time, this is the first edition of this major work. Book is very good, NOT an ex library copy. FEP and literally one or two other pages have some foxing but otherwise all pages are bright, clean and unmarked. Edges have just natural wear. Boards are firm and only the very slightest of give. Some bumping to extremities and just expected minor wear to front and back. No DJ, as published. Author photo plate is present, and loose as apparently published. All the illustrations present.
