Description:
The ancient Vedic religion was formed from the religious ideas and practices among some of the Indo-Aryan Peoples of Northwest India. Rele's book is a summation of his views that the Hindu scriptural texts are books of a biological nature and his research interprets the Vedic Gods from a biological stand point, particularly in relation to the central nervous system. A scarce book, especially in this excellent condition. See photos all of which are of the actual copy for sale. Boards are tight and very clean, with just some few markings here and there but overall excellent. Bottom corners are slightly bumped. Rear end paper has very neat pencil notes of a previous reader summarising the book (see photo) - removable if desired. Spine is clean and tight. Pages are bright, clean and in most part in remarkable condition. There are an exceptionally few small marks here and there and literally a few pencil underlinings, but generally extraordinarily clean for its age. Plates all intact including colour…

Case studies include Madeleine Smith, Florence Maybrick, and Florence Bravo.Book is in excellent condition. Pages are intact, unmarked and uncreased, clean and bright. Cloth covers are clean and tight. There is a single large 'D' in crayon (potentially removable) on the rear pastedown. The dust jacket is clean, unclipped but a biro mark through the original price. Description:
Chesney's comprehensive survey of the Victorian Underworld is an eye opening adventure into a shockingly different realm. As reviewer Kenneth Allsop put it: 'hordes of characters throng across Mr Chesney's huge and teeming stage… the value of his panorama of a hell more sulphurous than the preachers envisioned, is its scale of research and construction.' Chesney treats us to a wide range of remarkable events and statistics which offer a cause and effect philosophy of 19th century violence, its rise, its nature, and its gradual disappearance. In this way the author shows us how the world of criminals and the poor was always a function of society at large. An excellent copy. Pages are clean, bright and unmarked with no spots, fading or creases. Seems unread, in near mint state. Cloth boards are tight and clean. DJ unclipped, and in first class condition with only the very most minor shelf wear at top spine. All now protected in professional clear removable book wrapper.

Description:
Dr David Lewis, having been fascinated in his youth about the tales of ancient Polynesian explorers, sets out to discover what could be learned of their ancient arts. His aim was simple though adventurous: to sail as a navigator's apprentice on ocean voyages in traditional canoes, and to have native navigators sail his 29 foot ketch without using any western navigational aids. The legendary voyages of the early master mariners are shown in a new light in this fascinating book.An excellent copy. Pages are bright and tidy. No marks, staining or creases, and no inscriptions. Cloth boards are clean with just the slightest give. DJ is unclipped and with no obvious shelf wear. Original neat publisher price sticker on the front flap (Collins, £5.95).
