Description:
New York: DC Comics, 1990. First hardcover edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. This is the first hardcover issue of Moore and Lloyd's influential graphic novel, published by the Book of the Month Club (the commercially published version was a paperback). This is one of the most significant graphic novels of the 1980s, written beginning in 1981 as a response to Thatcherism in the United Kingdom. Its inspiration, Guy Fawkes, allowed Moore to explore themes of political repression and anarchism, unusual topics for comics and graphic novels at the time. This is the only edition of V for Vendetta in hardcover format until the 2005 movie tie-in edition. 286 pages. First hardcover edition (stated "First Printing" on the copyright page with a paper label identifying the printer as Ronalds Printing; the name of the printer of the paperback edition is blacked out, as issued). A fine hardcover copy in a very near fine dust jacket with a tiny chip missing from the rear flap fold. Very scarce.

Ypsilanti: Bilingual Press / Editorial Bilingüe, 1983. First edition, hardcover issue. Trade paperback. Very good. Hinojosa describes this un-illustrated book as "a re-creation in narrative prose of a portfolio of etchings, engravings, sketches, and silhouettes by various artists in various styles, plus a set of photographs from a familiy album." These short prose pieces build a portrait of life on the Texas-Mexican border. 112 pages. First edition (first printing, wrappers issue; there was also a simultaneous hardback). Wear to corners, thus very good. Inscribed by Hinojosa to a previous owner in 1992. Signed copies are uncommon.

Atglen, PA: Schiffer Publishing, 2002. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. A book devoted to 19 women Lowbrow artists. 160 pages. First edition (first printing). A fine copy in a fine dust jacket. This copy is inscribed by one of the contributors, Suzanne Chorna Williams, who is really more of an abstract and conceptual artist than a Lowbrow / pinup artist. Laid in to this copy is a postcard from Williams to the recipient of the book. She does suggest her appreciation of the grotesque in art. The postcard is an original photograph by Williams mounted on another postcard. The image is titled, "gopher" and shows a dead gopher on a paper plate. Her note also reads in part, "Was a pleasure to meat your family..." The postcard is signed "Suzanne and Bob," Bob being her husband, the artist Robert "Robt." Williams, one of the original Zap Comix artists.

Description:
México [Mexico City]: En la officina de D. Mariano de Zúñiga y Ontiveros, 1806. First Edition. A Mexican edition of a history of the Haitian revolution, written from the perspective of the French, who were ousted from the island following a particularly brutal and bloody conflict. The book is predictably critical of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, a leader of the revolution and the first ruler of independent Haiti, who ordered the execution of most of the remaining white residents of the country after the war. The book was quickly translated into several European languages, including Spanish, as a warning to other colonial powers. Juan Lopez Cancelada, a Spaniard who at the time was editing the Mexican periodical, La Gazeta, financed this Mexican edition. Cancelada commissioned two Mexican artists, José Simón de Larrea (who signs his work "Rea" in this book) and Manuel Lopez Lopez, to produce the engravings for which this edition is known. The ten plates, including a frontispiece, are expressive and… Read More
