This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of a "New Edition Completely Revised;" First Edition Thus; surprisingly uncommon. Maroon cloth binding with gilt titling on the spine and front cover. Clean text; 272 pages, with a 24-page publisher's catalog in the rear. Five black-and-white illustrations by Maurice Greiffenhagen (1862-1931). A Very Good (Plus) copy. Binding remains bright, with no scuffing. Tips are very lightly bumped, and there is a small "ding" to the top of the rear panel. There is no publisher listed, but with its 1898 publication date, this pre-dates the editions by Buckles, Barse & Hopkins, and others. Illustrated with a rather suggestive frontis in black and white and a graveyard scene that serves as backgrounf to the text on each page. Written in 1895 during a very prolific time for the author, it was presumed lost in the San Francisco earthquake and only published posthumously. This is a Very Good (Plus) to Near Fine copy of the First Edition; lacking the dustjacket. Brick red ribbed cloth binding, ruled on the front cover; gilt titling on the sp[ine and front cover. Contains the original cast list from the 1899 production; frontis portrait of the producer and star, Minnie Maddern Fiske (1865-1932). "She is perhaps most famous for starring as Becky Sharp in the original 1899 production of Langdon Mitchell's Becky Sharp, a play based on William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair" (Wikipedia). Clean text; viii, 583 pages, with four pages of the publisher's adverts in the rear. With 473 great black-and-white illustrations. First published in 1739, when it went to three editions, all of which were edited (censored) to avoid offense (certainly a fool's errand when it comes to Swift) This is a Very Good copy of a Later Printing from two years later (and four years prior to Swift's actual death). Held by all major academic libraries in the UK, but scarce in trade. Disbound from a collection; clean text; 22 pages. The title page shows darkening around the margins; within, the textblock is quite bright and clear. The last page has a split at the top, rendering it tender.
