On verso, manuscript statement, dated January 31, 1835, providing evidence for allowing the Land Indenture to be recorded. Signed by the Associate Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in New York City, Michael Ulshoffer. Hugh Gaine (1726-1807) was an American printer, bookseller, and newspaper publisher who moved his operations from New York City to Newark, New Jersey at the beginning of the American Revolution when the British occupied New York.
