This publisher found , in 1902, a way to economically produce color illustrations, and the splendid 20 shilling series of English county and foreign travel books started. This book was the only work of fiction so honored in the 20 shilling series, and also in this limited edition. Inman 257. It has an introduction by Joseph Grego and includes John Forster's essay on the story. Only 250 copies, this number 64 and signed by the publisher. White vellum cloth with a clover leaf design blocked in gilt and printed in olive green on the front and spine, titles in gilt on front and spine, top edge gilt. There is some soiling to the boards and wear at the edges. Inside, a beautiful copy with no stains or foxing or prior owner marks, except for age browning on the endpapers as is usual. Protected in a clear, mylar dustjacket..

Handsome copy in original black cloth with copper bright title on the spine, one corner bumped but no edge wear. Inside, very clean and tight with no stains or prior owner marks. The dust jacket has some slight edge wear, but no tears and is not price clipped. All the best of the 19th Century intrepid lady travelers are here - Fanny Workman, Isabella Bird Bishop, Mary Kingsley, Marianne North and others. A fine read. .

Four fine volumes of 31 opus Grieg piano sheet music, bound in red morocco spines and coerners, 5 raised bands on the spines of all volumes with bright gilt titles and volume numbers, and gilt decoration in the spine panels. Slight wear at the corners. Hinges all tight. Marbled endpapers in beige and red to match the papers on the boards. Titles for the music in German, but some titles also in Norwegian and English. Solid 4 volumes with internal leather hinges, no foxing or stains, or prior owner marks. 31 cm tall. An handsome set, no other copies listed on the internet. Uniquely bound by a Grieg enthusiast. Later edition from the 1725 edition, with introduction, notes and glossary by J.O. Halliwell. This is a rare, finely bound edition, with top edge gilt, and marbled boards, professionally rebacked with corners tight. 72 facsimile woodcuts from antique editions. Clean and tight inside, a very nice copy. The paper is especially nice, without stains or browning..

Very nice full tree calf, the original binding with professionally repaired corners and top edges of both spines. Red title labels with gilt titles on the spines. Marbled endpapers, with hinges tight and all plates present as called for. Light and occasional foxing in both volumes. The first Swedish edition was 1788 in a smaller format; this is the next edition and has the largest illustrations. The English edition followed, also 8 vo. in size. The volumes cover travel from 1770 to 1779. Thunberg was student of the great Swedish naturalist, Linnaeus. He set out to explore Japan and its flora and fauna. Full, dark brown morocco leather, with a blind-stamped design on both boards, and small red flowers on-laid in the corners of the front. Raised bands with green leather title and author labels on the spine. Bright gilt flowers in the spine panels between the labels. Hasselquist was a student of the renowned Swedish botanist and ecologist Linnaeus. He traveled to Palestine, Syria, Cyprus, Rhodes and Chios to investigate the plants and natural history of the Levant, and he was the first to do so systematically. He died at Smyrna in 1752. His work was edited and published by Linnaeus posthumously in Swedish, as Iter Palaestinum, in 1757.
