The bookplate is unusual because not only does it have the author's printed name, but also 3 printed pen names that he used (Jack Higgins, Martin Fallon, and James Graham). The volume has light spine tail wer and the pages re gently toned. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a sleeve, has edge wear and 3 faint scrapes on the spine.

The volume is lightly bumped at the spine ends and corners, has some surface rubbing with occasional soiling and the spine has several faint vertical creases. The pastedowns and endpapers are faintly rubbed and there is a nick on the fore-edge of the front endpaper. Six leaves are lightly chipped on the corners (no text affected) and there is also occasional soiling and creased corners.The spine is slightly canted. The sleeved dust jacket is clipped on all corners (price of $1.00 is present), is creased on the front joint, and the spine is gently toned.

Frederick Fairchild Sherman, 1916-01-01. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. No printing history on copyright page. Illustrated with over 100 black and white plates. The cover edges have mild wear, and there are two 1/8" splits on the spine crown. The spine label is starting to chip on the edges, the gilt lettering is quite dulled, and there are some sizable (3/8") ink (?) splotches on the spine label and another one near the base of the spine. The interior leaves are gently toned.

Lippincott, 1935. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair-Good/No Jacket. The boards and green cloth are in sad shape with frayed edges, bumped corners, scuffing at the spine ends, and staining to both front and rear (severe on the rear) panels (as if a now long gone dust jacket had gotten wet, adhered to the book, and was then peeled off). The interior has three corner creases and light toning to the pages, else in very good condition.

Archibald Constable & Co, 1904. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Original red cloth, gilt lettering. The edgeworn boards are lightly soiled, the spine is mildly sunned, and the lettering lightly dulled. There are the remains of a small bookseller's label at the base of the front pastedown and the front hinge is almost totally separated (webbing is mostly intact).There is occasional light soiling to the pages and the binding is surprisingly firm.

Clydeside Press, n.d. (ca. 1996). Softcover. Very Good. The covers have edge wear to include wrinkles and corner creases. Some of the text leaves have tipped corners and we observed one instance of an ink marginal marking (an arrow).

Above her name she has added, in red ink, a chop. Inked in beneath her signature is a date and place. The front corner is lightly tipped, there is light laminate wrinkling near the spine crown and bottom of the front cover, and pages 547-572 have slight fore-edge wrinkling causing a narrow gap in the leaves.
