Description:
Gollancz, 2003 Book. Illus. by Mulcahey, Steve. Very Fine. Hardcover. First Edition. Hardcover UK, first printing and true first edition. Very fine (unread) copy in very fine jacket. Britain is a pariah state bombed and embargoed back into a semi-fedual society where the social order is breaking down. The story becomes an Odyssey adventure through the deteriorating British countryside when Fen begins the unwilling pursuit to London where his (estranged and not much missed) wife, has been taken by the Bulldog gang as a (not so unwilling) concubine by the gang leader. James Lovegrove has been writing SF since 1990. Well respected in the UK, he is yet relatively unknown in the US. A recent omnibus by Solaris Press, The James Lovegrove Collection: Volume One, has published two of this novels, Days (1997) and Untied Kingdom (2003). Hopefully this omnibus will get Lovegrove the recognition in the US which he deserves..
