The First UK printing thus published by Enitharmon Editions & Queen Anne Press, UK, in 2013. Hardcover. The BOOK is in Fine unread condition. No WRAPPER as issued. Large format Deluxe Illustrated Edition of which this is number 50 of only 100 such copies. The book is bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe and housed in the original blue solander box made by Ludlow Bookbinders. The box has a tiny rub to the lower front edge. The book is Signed by Sir Peter Blake to the title page. Accompanied by a Signed and Numbered print (50/100) by the Artist which is housed in its original card folder. The print 'The Sailor's Arms' is printed by Ted Chau at Chaudigital, London, on 315 gms Da Vinci soft textured paper. Published to mark the centenary of Dylan Thomas' birth and to celebrate a body of work by Peter Blake. Blake's richly detailed sequence of 110 watercolours, pencil portraits and collages, comprise one of his most distinctive and significant bodies of work. Collectible. Description:
The First UK Printing published by Cobden-Sanderson, London in 1928. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with a little toning and spotting to the text-block. Light spotting to the prelims. Bookplates of bibliophile and author Simon and Judith Nowell-Smith to the front pastedown. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Some light edge-wear and creasing at the spine ends and corners. Mild toning to the spine. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. Signed presentation copy from the author to his fellow trench stove and friend Warwick R. Redway. They served together in WW1 and Redway is referred to twice in the book as 'R' ( pages 79 & 84). Blunden has also written out the poem 'Escape' to the FEP which appears on page 273 of the book. Underneath the poem, he has written to his old friend and fellow trench stove, 'W.R.
