Thomas Mann’s compelling novella on the life of Moses, which first appeared in 1943 as part of a larger collection of ten novellas edited by literary agent Armin L. Robinson and published by Simon & Schuster under the name "The Ten Commandments, Ten Short Novels Of Hitler’s War Against The Moral Code." The stories were written by ten different authors chosen from around the world, each of whom was assigned an individual Commandment, the overall purpose being an international condemnation of Nazi atrocities.
