This copy has a 2 page autographed letter (in a very wobbly hand) signed by the author tipped in at the front, dated 1910. Adams was the grandson of president John Q. Adams. He served as a colonel in the Union Army. Because of his love for history and his writing, he became president of the Massachusetts Historical Society and the American Historical Association. He served as president of the Union Pacific Railroad from 1884-1890. Top corners bumped. Extremities rubbed but not rubbed through. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition. Original Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Book.
